Finding yourself involved in a police investigation as the suspect for a crime is never a pleasant experience, but when the allegations involve a crime of sexual misconduct, the stakes may be even higher. That is because of two factors: first, sex-crimes cases carry with them a social stigma; and second, whether a crime occurred can often involve highly subjective judgment. Anytime a crime involves conduct alone and not objective factors like stolen goods or property damage there is always an element of individual perception. Even physical evidence such as bodily injury or DNA evidence is not always a clear indicator of what may have happened. Under these circumstances, even when you think you are entirely innocent of criminal conduct, your freedom may very much be at stake based on little more than a verbal accusation.

In addition, because of the social stigma associated with persons involved in a sex-related crime, you may find that even the hint of involvement may affect your employment status, your personal relationships, and even your family relationships. Those you most need to count on to stand by your side may not be there for you, and all of these factors can lead to emotional and financial difficulties. Under these circumstances, it is essential for you to hire a qualified, experienced defense attorney who will be entirely committed to seeing you prevail. You need to recognize that you are not in the best position to handle the stress and difficulty of your situation alone, and that your best option is to place your legal problem in the hands of someone you can truly rely upon.
